GRANTMAKING

The objective of our grantmaking is to invest in and support significant local projects that can provide transformational outcomes for our community. In many cases, we will go beyond just granting funds and will seek to create and build enduring partnerships and supportive relationships with organisations whose goals and strategies align with those of the Foundation.

HOW WE GRANT

Momentum Waikato pools and distributes charitable gifts that have been entrusted to the Foundation by generous donors within our community.

We encourage donors to direct their giving through the Vital Impact Programme, which are the only funds that are open for community groups to apply for. The priorities for distribution of funds through the Vital Impact Programme will be informed by Waikato Vital Signs.

Our donors’ gifts are distributed through the Vital Impact Programme for significant change projects and programmes that ensure the long-term vitality of our community. Community organisations who believe they have projects and programmes focused on significant intergenerational, transformational change may apply for grants through the annual open funding round, the first of which closed in November 2016.

Our donors instruct Momentum Waikato to distribute their gifts in support of their chosen charities and causes, and we will carry out their instructions. Because our donors have already decided which causes they wish to fund, there is no opportunity for other community organisations to apply for grants under this category.

Our donors instruct Momentum Waikato to distribute their gifts to a combination of their chosen charities and the Vital Impact Programme. The percentage of their gifts for the Vital Impact Programme will be made available for projects and programmes focused on significant intergenerational, transformational change through the annual open funding round, the first of which closed in November 2016.
